| Im taking some time off from work to learn how to draw a comic, and I'm posting each page here. It's called Project Waldo. Comments are appreciated. Thanks! You can follow my progress at my blog: [link]. I usually make video game art for a living. Most recently, I led the art team for Demigod, released by Gas Powered Games and Stardock in 2009. |

Otherwise this project rocks!

Week Daze...
I agree about the speech bubbles! I'll be going back in and using paths to redraw them. The main drawback to learning by doing is that you often end up learning by re-doing! Oh well!

Its pretty useful.

Week Daze...
If you're working traditional with a pen and drawing paper, what materials and tools are you using? If you work entirely digital, what's your process like for creating your linework? It looks too clean to be traditional, although that could come from working panels in from multiple sheets and backing off the workspace. Et cetera.
Just curious about your process.
The process is digital from start to finish. I usually make a rough drawing using the brush tool, then knock it down to fifty percent opacity and draw on a new layer above that one. I repeat this process until I'm happy with the result (sometimes five or six times). Eventually, things sort of tighten up on their own.
Hope that helps!
*What's your scale like on a typical page, as far as pixels? Around 5k x 5k?
*You keep the brush for your linework or use the line tool, or pen?
Thanks for the response. I consider myself a line artist, but I've been looking for a way to apply that "clean" look to everything without losing too much speed in the process.
Much obliged!
